The Challenge The company had moved to a higher-level playing field where their co-pack (private label) clients required 3rd party audits. These audits, combined with the new Bioterrorism Laws, led to a greater need for tracking. When dealing with food products, the need for tracing the path of ingredients to the exact lot and case numbers for safety in the end product is paramount. After looking at their operation, it was clear that they needed both AccountMate and Manufacturing Conductor to implement a process that would meet the requirements of the co-pack clients. The long-time principals of the company were hesitant to move to that level, but were reassured by our experienced people that the changes would be more beneficial than painful. The Solution
The Results
We have the ability to perform "cradle to grave" lot-tracking on specific lots of ingredients and can tell every order filled from a particular box of spice, for example, what date shipped, to whom, quantities, etc., which has led to our ability to better serve customers, brokers and vendors with more detailed, accurate and timely information.
