Stuller, Inc. is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of jewelry-related products, providing more than 100,000 different items to the trade. From nearly 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and administrative facilities in Lafayette, Louisiana, Stuller serves an account base of more than 40,000 jewelers throughout North America and the world.
Project Goals Stuller's goals were to capture new customers and reach existing customers faster by providing same day service through a local customer service center. To meet these goals it would be required to extend the company's complex order processing and invoicing functions into a retail-like environment and to provide timely information to the corporate Oracle database. Additionally, it was required that all systems must go live in less than 30 days from commencement of our project.
Tools, Technologies, and Implementation In order to meet the aggressive schedule and to deliver a solution that would lead to success in the field, Tamlin applied an accelerated needs analysis, or JAD process, that included developing a complete test suite which was used to validate the results for every transaction prior to going live. Tamlin's proprietary Point-of-Sale application was used as a basis, and a team approach was used to code the required customizations and integrations. Developers from both Stuller and Tamlin participated in detail design and coding of the final solution. Implementation was accomplished primarily by Stuller's IT staff, as the first jewelry center opened on schedule.
Project Results Since the on-time opening of the first location in Houston, the jewelry center concept has been very successful in meeting the company's goals. Stuller has opened additional jewelry centers in Los Angeles, Seattle, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Toronto. For the Toronto location, Tamlin provided additional services to support multi-currency requirements and other localization issues.
